President Signs Bill Protecting Infants Born Alive

A former labor and delivery nurse who was fired for exposing the abortion policy of Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn, witnessed the signing of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act.

  • The Act recognizes premature babies who survive abortion procedures as citizens guaranteed rights under the U.S. Constitution.
  • Jill Stanek fought to stop "live birth abortion" after witnessing one as an RN
  • In November 2003 the White House invited Jill to President Bush's signing of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban.
  • "When I am interviewed on the radio, nurses will invariably call in and tell me of their similar experiences."
  • Babies are still being aborted alive in America. During partial birth abortion some babies are inadvertently aborted alive.
A nurse fired from Christ Hospital and Medical Center in Oak Lawn joined President Bush when he signed a bill that recognises aborted infants as citizens with legal rights.

Jill Stanek of Mokena, a labour and delivery nurse who gained notoriety for exposing the abortion policy of the hospital and who later was fired, testified before Congress in support of legislation recognizing the legal rights of aborted infants.

"In some cases, infants show signs of life when aborted through induced labor. Doctors are not required to provide medical care."

Stanek lobbied on behalf of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act signed by Bush, which recognises infants as being citizens. While the act doesn't address the issue of medical care, Stanek said it recognises premature babies who survive abortion procedures as citizens guaranteed rights under the U.S. Constitution.

Jill Stanek became a leader in the Illinois conservative movement when she fought to stop "live birth abortion" after witnessing one as an RN at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn.

In August 2002, President Bush asked Jill to his signing of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act. In January 2003, World Magazine named Jill one of the 30 "most prominent pro-life leaders" of the past 30 years. In November 2003, the White House invited Jill to President Bush's signing of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban.

Jill is also pro-life coordinator for Concerned Women for America of Illinois and a public speaker around the country.

On 24 August 2004, Stanek said:

"When President Bush signed the Born Alive Infants Protection Act into law two years ago this month, I thought the practice of aborting babies alive would end.

"It hasn't.

"Because I travel the country and speak about my experience as a nurse who witnessed babies being aborted alive, I am occasionally approached by nurses who relate similar stories.

"And when I am interviewed on the radio, nurses will invariably call in and tell about them, too.

"That babies are still being aborted alive in America is no secret. Abortionist Leroy Carhart testified earlier this year during the partial birth abortion ban hearings that about once a month he inadvertently aborts babies alive."
